ID : 1519
« back to classes page
ClassGraphic In January 1919, Bostonians could be excused for anxiety. The city had lost over a thousand of its citizens to fighting in World War I and at least as many to the flu pandemic that burst out at Camp Devens in September 1918. The world was out of joint. But who could have been prepared for a flood of molasses? Was it an attack by Italian anarchists? Relatively small in terms of lives lost, this 1919 disaster had interesting complications.
