« back to classes page
ClassGraphic What is the constitutional foundation of the Federal budget and the role of Congress and the president in setting taxes and spending? How does the budget affect the national economy? What is the role of debt borrowing in financing the budget? In the past five years, large deficits and debt borrowing have reached record levels outside of wartime. What does this mean, if anything, for the nation in the years ahead? The diverse economic and political viewpoints on the subject will be discussed. The class will conclude by focusing on potential solutions and what those solutions might mean for economic growth and the American people.
