Walking Rhode Island: Spring Hikes
ID :
2048
« back to classes page
John Kostrzewa, who writes the “Walking Rhode Island” column for
The Providence Journal
, has been hiking for decades across the state. He
has lectured at OLLI before, but this is a new presentation with new hikes, new slides, and more information about the trailblazers - the men and women who cleared the way.
He'll discuss the history of the areas where he has hiked and the variety of birds, trees, and geological features he has found. A special focus of the presentation will be a description of the North-South Trail and places to hike. Along the way, he’ll explain what makes Rhode Island’s trails unique and outline some of the challenges that Rhode Islanders face with regard to maintaining the state’s public places.
