ClassGraphic Winter has a bad reputation among all too many people, but rather than flee the season, some of us revel in the cold and regard snow, ice, increased darkness, and frigid temperatures as opportunities to explore the seemingly lifeless landscape. On this guided indoor tour, we’ll explore how resident plant and animal species—including the instructor—prepare for lean times and manage to survive, even thrive, through winter’s harshest conditions. Along the shore, in the woods and fields, and at the bird feeders, we’ll discover the fascinating biology behind cold-weather resilience.
