ClassGraphic Some of the greatest films ever made are not in English. Now at OLLI, you can see the magic of some masters, two by Italian directors, The Conformist by Bernardo Bertolucci, and The Bicycle Thieves by Vittorio De Sica. Next, we have the great French film director Jean Renoir (son of the painter August) and his masterpiece, The Grand Illusion, followed by the German director Rainer Warner Fassbinder and The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant. All films will be shown in their original language with English subtitles. Reviews of the films and the directors’ biographies will be made available the week before each showing for those who want a deeper understanding of the directors and films before seeing them, but you can enjoy the movie without reading them. Time permitting, a discussion will be held after each showing.
