« back to classes page
ClassGraphic In partnership with the URI Honors Program, this course will meet over OLLI’s winter semester, the OLLI break, and the spring semester. We will be working with first-year honors students, exchanging with them a poem that has served as a guidepost in our lives, with each OLLI member submitting one poem. URI students will respond to those poems, writing letters to OLLI members and illustrating the poems, including illuminating those texts. Over the course of the semester, OLLI members will have the chance to work with URI students, culminating in an art exhibit in late April featuring the poetry and student illustrations. The URI students will be learning how to closely read poetry, gaining understanding of why poetry carries the power and meaning that it does. This is a wonderful opportunity to work with these students and share with them your love of poetry.
