« back to classes page
ClassGraphic “Public access” to Rhode Island’s shoreline is a tradition older than the state itself, but its meaning has changed dramatically over centuries. This course takes a step back from current political and legal debates to investigate the reasons for public access and for the limitations to public access that developed over time. We will then discuss current shoreline public access issues, including the most recent legislation and areas of dispute, within this broader context and mindful of the importance of Rhode Island’s shoreline to our state.
