Knowing Vincent

Vincent van Gogh is one of the most celebrated artists in the world. His paintings have become easily recognizable, and he is known as the classic “tortured artist.” We will study some of van Gogh’s most famous paintings, including Starry Night, Sunflowers, Irises, The Night Café, and The Potato Eaters. We will also learn about van Gogh’s life, how he discovered art, and why eventually he became one of the most renowned painters of the 19th century. Participants are also encouraged to register for an adjunct class with Kara Marziali on Wednesday, July 30 for a guided art lesson entitled “Express Yourself: Learn to Paint Like Vincent van Gogh.”
