ClassGraphic How can we ensure a climate friendly world for our grandchildren? You may fear it’s too late or wonder what you can do to have the most positive impact. Join URI marine scientists emerita Barbara K. Sullivan-Watts in working with the interactive model En-ROADS to answer these questions. After exploring the model, you will have an opportunity to share your insights and discuss what you can do going forward that will make a difference. No computer needed, but bring one if it’s convenient.

Please read:  Assignment for the first class: Please look over this list of possible actions to address climate change and pick the 2 or 3 that you particularly favor:
  • taxing fossil fuels
  • subsidizing renewable energy
  • subsidizing nuclear energy
  • increasing the efficiency of transportation
  • a price on carbon with cashback payments
  • increasing efficiency of energy use (for example, in housing or transportation), planting trees
  • reducing deforestation
  • reducing the consumption of meat
  • changing agricultural practices
  • or something else.
