ID : 1515
« back to classes page
ClassGraphic Wilkie Collins was one of the most widely read British authors of the 19th century. He inaugurated the popular genre known as the Sensation Novel—fiction that featured decidedly provocative themes, including adultery, crime, colonial violence, drug use, and madness. We will focus on one of Collins's wittiest and most celebrated novels, The Moonstone (1868). We’ll discuss the novel in its Victorian cultural context and in connection with the poignant biography of its author.
