ClassGraphic Delve into the realms of ancient woodlands and arboreal giants, from the famous towering redwoods of California to the ancient bald cypress swamp forest of the Florida everglades, to wolf trees right here in New England. We will gain an understanding of the significance of old-growth forests in ecological, cultural, and conservation contexts. We’ll discuss how to identify old-growth trees by sight, physical characteristics, and location, as well as the ecological functions and importance of old-growth trees and forests. We’ll deepen our knowledge and connection to trees and nature to develop a holistic appreciation for the beauty, complexity, and vulnerability of old-growth forests.
