ClassGraphic Learn about the Camino Francés de Santiago, a 500-mile historical “pilgrimage” that begins in St. Jean du Port, France, traverses northern Spain, and ends at the Cathedral de Santiago in Galicia, Spain. Legend has it that the relics of Saint James the Apostle were buried there in the first century and were “discovered” later in the ninth century.  Pilgrims have been making their way to the site from various routes throughout Spain, Portugal, and all of Europe ever since. A brief history of the Camino’s origins, traditions, and topography through Spain and Portugal will be accompanied by photos taken by Chaia and Karen on recent individual pilgrimages.  Learn about the practicalities of planning such a trip and why this walk is so compelling for so many.
