ClassGraphic Joseph P. Hazard (1807-1892) was the youngest brother in the Rhode Island family who ran the Peace Dale Manufacturing Company for over 100 years. Joseph tried his best, but at about age 40, he described himself as "incompetent to business." With his family's support, he spent the rest of his life traveling, practicing spiritualism, and developing gardens at his castle in Narragansett. A diary he left offers a detailed view of his life, adventures, and reflections. Meet this remarkable man!
