ID : 1254
« back to classes page
ClassGraphic Take an introspective look at the influence of folk music on American society, starting in 1928 with one of the earliest known U.S. folk festivals located in Ashville, NC, and ending with the 2023 Newport Folk Festival. Folk music songs range in subject matter from war, work, civil rights, and economic hardship to nonsense, satire and, of course, love. We will listen to some of the greatest folk musicians, including Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie, The Weavers, Peter, Paul and Mary, and, of course Bob Dylan, Nobel Prize winner in literature.
