This 90-minute program explores the history of social services in South Kingstown from the early 20th century to today, with a special focus on the founding and growth of the Jonnycake Center for Hope since 1974. We’ll look at how the community has responded to changing needs over time and unpack today’s federal, state, and local human services landscape—and what it means for residents with low and moderate incomes. The program concludes with a guided, behind-the-scenes tour of the Jonnycake Center’s offices, food pantry, and youth center in Peace Dale, RI.
