ClassGraphic Roger Williams: "Theology, Magistrates, and Banishment” presents a third session on Rhode Island’s Founding Father at a critical moment in his life and career. In this class we'll explore the arguments that led to Roger's banishment from Massachusetts Bay in 1635, his flight into the "wilderness" in 1636, and his establishment of Providence. We will discuss his views on indigenous land rights, the role of magistrates in matters of conscience, and his arguments for separation from England.
