ClassGraphic The conundrum is simple: if dinosaurs are reptiles (and they are) but birds are dinosaurs, how can a bird be a reptile? The answer is fascinating, and goes back to dated 18th century pre-evolutionary ideas still being taught in schools. Although the evolution from non-bird dinosaurs to birds has only been recognized for the past ~40 years, it has become one of the most astounding and best-documented transitions in evolution. We’ll go through the steps in detail. Ultimately, you’ll know how modern birds evolved, as well as understand how a bird can be a reptile. And as for dinosaurs? They taste like chicken!
