ClassGraphic The 20th century has provided exciting and unexpected new ideas that underpin our lives today. In this course, we will explore four of the biggest. Each of these breakthroughs has transformed our world and changed the lives we lead.

We will spend one session on each topic:
  • Electricity for light and power
  • Antibiotics for medicine
  • Broadcast radio and television for instant communication across the globe
  • Artificial Intelligence, which may define the era to come
We’ll review the key technical concepts in the context of their history, and discuss how these ideas have touched our lives. We’ll also review where these technologies have led us and examine the outlook for further development.
