A Q&A session after the movie will be led by CDR Bob Flynn, USN (ret.) and Kathy Conlon who together run the award-winning URI Military and Veteran Education Center (MAVE) here at the University of Rhode Island. In 2014, Bob was selected as the first ever Blue Angels Executive Officer and trained and traveled with the Blue Angels for the nationwide 2015 and 2016 seasons, traveling over 220 days a year. As a career Naval Flight Officer, Bob assisted the “Boss” in running the day-to-day operations of the squadron as well as being the tactical air control officer during practices and demonstrations, running the airspace and communicating with the demonstration pilots throughout each show and practice.
Kathy Conlon, a 16-year veteran of URI, was selected to get a flight with the Blue Angels in 2015 while they performed at Quonset Reserve Base as part of their Key Influencer program. This is a high honor in the community and happened to be during Bob’s tour with the Blues. They would meet for the first time at URI years later, discovering this unlikely connection!
